Agency for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean
The Treaty of Tlatelolco formed this agency in Mexico City, Mexico. It supports a prohibition on use of nuclear weapons by member countries. It also encourages peaceful uses of atomic energy. OPANAL comes from its name in Spanish (Organismo para la Proscripcion de las Armas Nucleares en la America Latina y el Caribe).
