Kyrgyz

Scripts

This language uses the Arabic, Cyrillic, and Latin scripts.

Arabic is the original script for Kyrgyz. When the Soviets first took control of the area, they made the Latin script the official script. Then in 1940, the Soviets made Cyrillic the official script. The Kyrgyzstan government decided to reintroduce the Latin script.
