East Timor is in Asia. Its capital is Dili. It is at 8° 50' South, 125° 55' East. East Timor has an area of 15,007 square kilometres (5,794 square miles). The population is 1,177,834. This population is from a 2011 estimate.

Economy

Education
In the year 2002, the literacy rate was 58.6%. This definition of literacy is portion of the population over 15 years of age, that can read and write.
Society
People here speak Bahasa Indonesia, English, Portuguese, and Tetum. Religions beliefs here include Muslim, Protestant, and Roman Catholic.
There is a total of about sixteen indigenous languages. Of these sixteen, significant numbers of people speak Tetum, Galole, Mambae, and Kemak.
