Kazakhstan is in Asia. Its capital is Astana. It is at 48° 00' North, 68° 00' East. Kazakhstan has an area of 2,717,300 square kilometres (1,049,155 square miles). The population is 15,522,373. This population is from a 2011 estimate.

Economy

For currency they use the Kazakhstani Tenge. The inflation in 2009 was 7.3%. The economy link (above) goes to a page that lists their commodities and trading partners.

Businesses print their own money, so inflation rates are difficult to determine.


Government

The government moved from Almaty to Astana in December 1998.


Education

In the year 1999, the literacy rate was 99.5%. This definition of literacy is portion of the population over 15 years of age, that can read and write.


Society

People here speak Kazakh, Russian, and Uyghur. Religions beliefs here include Muslim, other, Protestant, and Russian Orthodox.
