Atlantic Ocean

The Atlantic Ocean covers one quarter of the world's water surface. It separates between Europe and Africa from the Americas.

Its warm water currents keep the weather more mild in Western Europe. These currents carry lots of debris from around the ocean onto the coasts of the British Isles. More people have traveled the Atlantic Ocean. It has the most extreme tide differences.

Some think of the Atlantic as two oceans. The North Atlantic is part north of the Equator. The South Atlantic is the part south of the Equator.
